A Nacogdoches man was arrested late Thursday night after police say he fatally stabbed a family member during an argument.
At approximately 10:45 p.m. on May 1, officers and fire personnel responded to a call about an injured person lying in the street in the 2200 block of Maybell Street, between Sweetgum Street and 4th Street. Upon arrival, first responders found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers located a trail of blood and determined that the incident began at a nearby residence. At that location, they encountered a man who told them he had stabbed the deceased individual during a family dispute.
The victim has been identified as Sirveorge Deron Jones, 40, of Nacogdoches. The suspect, identified as Emar'ian Nikhy Trezmin Jones, 23, also of Nacogdoches, was arrested at the scene and charged with Murder.
Investigators say the incident is unrelated to the homicide that occurred earlier in the week at Eastwood Terrace.
The investigation is ongoing.
