Drug Bust Leads to Arrest of Woman in Bogata

Kyla Jo Harville

Bogata Police Officers collaborated with Texas DPS Troopers from Hopkins County following a traffic stop on the morning of May 7, 2024. The stop, initiated at around 5:30 am, led to the discovery of discarded methamphetamine in a ditch nearby.

Upon investigation, it was found that the vehicle's occupants hailed from Red River County, residing in the Johntown area. Shortly after, the suspect vehicle was traced to a residence in Johntown, where DPS Troopers conducted a second stop, resulting in the arrest of both occupants on narcotics charges.

Subsequent to the second stop, authorities developed probable cause to believe that narcotics and related paraphernalia were present in the residence the vehicle had left. Bogata Police obtained a search warrant for the house, leading to the arrest of 37-year-old Kyla Jo Harville.

During the execution of the search warrant, approximately 3.7 grams of methamphetamine, prescription medication, and marijuana were seized. Harville was arrested and booked into the Red River County Jail on charges including Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 3, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
