Kilgore, Texas – On Friday morning, December 5, around 7:30 a.m., Kilgore Police responded to an unusual and chaotic scene after a family violence incident at a nearby hotel led to a man running naked through a busy commercial area.
According to police, the suspect chased a woman from the hotel wearing only shoes and a towel. The towel didn’t stay on long, and drivers along Business 259 ended up seeing far more than they expected as the man ran from the area near Chili’s toward Walmart and back.

Officers intercepted the suspect as he returned to the hotel and took him into custody without further incident. He is not a Kilgore resident and was found to have outstanding warrants out of Upshur and Panola counties. Police also recovered a meth pipe, which they say likely explains his behavior. The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Shae Everett Asbury of Carthage, TX.
The victim is safe and is receiving support. Kilgore Police emphasized that family violence is serious, noting that these cases often increase during December. They encouraged anyone in need of help to reach out to the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233.
Police noted that an image of the man, taken by someone who happened to be getting morning coffee, was shared with the department, though the original source is unknown.
