Wylie SRO Takes Student Into Custody Following Threat at McMillan Jr. High

WYLIE, Texas - A Wylie School Resource Officer (SRO) restrained and took into custody a 12-year-old student Thursday afternoon after the student made threats toward school staff at McMillan Jr. High School.

According to the Wylie Police Department, the incident began around 2:00 p.m. when the SRO responded to the administrator’s office regarding a reported threat. While the situation was being investigated, the student continued to verbally threaten the administrator and lunged multiple times at the SRO’s firearm in an attempt to gain access.

The student was charged with terroristic threat causing fear of imminent serious bodily injury and attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer. The student’s name is being withheld because he is a minor.

Wylie Police emphasized that all threats toward campuses or staff are taken seriously. Officials said they will continue working with Wylie ISD to investigate all threats and perceived threats to ensure campus safety.
