The Livingston Police Department says an undercover online investigation has led to multiple arrests of adults accused of trying to exploit children over the internet. According to the department, the operation began in late July and focused on identifying individuals who believed they were communicating with minors.
Officers arrested six men on charges of Online Solicitation of a Minor: Randy Newman, 31, of Goodrich; Hugh Haines, 35, of Coldspring; Nicholas Vachon, 25, of Houston; Marc Coar, 57, of Thicket; Brandon Rose, 28, of Livingston; and Christopher Sullivan, 29, of Beaumont. Police say additional charges of Possession of Child Pornography are pending for at least one suspect. All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Chief David Mitchell said the arrests highlight a growing threat as offenders increasingly use phones, games, and social media to make contact with young people. He praised the investigators involved and encouraged families to stay alert, have open conversations about online safety, and report anything concerning.
The department says it will continue similar proactive efforts to protect children in the community.
