UPDATE: Kylar has been found safe.
This morning, there has been an increased police presence around Leonard Independent School District (LISD) buildings and campuses. Authorities want to assure the public that there is no emergency at any LISD campus or building, and operations at LISD are proceeding as usual.
The heightened police activity is due to an ongoing search for a 13-year-old runaway. Deputies and officers from the Fannin County Sheriff's Department, Leonard Police Department, Leonard ISD Police Department, and the Fannin County Search and Rescue squad are involved in the search efforts.
The missing individual is Kylar Rose Barns, a 13-year-old white female with dirty blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a dirty white shirt, black shoes, and carrying a duffle bag containing food and water.
A photo of Kylar Rose Barns has been released, though her hair color may appear slightly different from the image provided. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is urged to contact one of the listed agencies.
